Small-sized, High-voltage, 3-phase Motor Driver for Industrial [SAM212M15BF1]

We are excited to share that our new motor driver, the SAM212M15BF1, is now in mass production. This high-voltage 3-phase motor driver is ideal for industrial equipment.
The new addition, boasting a breakdown voltage of 1200 V and a rated current of 15 A, not only meets industrial purposes but also expands possible applications the existing SAM2 series can provide.

Applications

For 3-phase motor drivers for large industrial equipment such as:
  • Compressor for Commercial Air Conditioner
  • General-purpose Inverter
  • Servomotor

The SAM2 series are all-in-one IPMs that integrate the following components into a single package: output transistors, pre-drive circuits, bootstrap diodes with current-limiting resistors, and a temperature-sensing thermistor. Through the driver IC downsizing and high-density power chip mounting technologies, we succeeded in reducing the package size by ≥20% (compared to our old type ICs) with the same conventional devices included inside.
Moreover, the SAM2 series has high temperature-sensing accuracy and low-noise characteristics. Your application will have a smaller PCB space, higher reliability, and more ease of designing high-voltage circuits.

Low VF Fast Recovery Diode Ideal for PFC Circuits [SPNS-1106S]

We have recently started mass-producing the SPNS-1106S — a fast recovery diode (600 V, 10 A) housed in a surface-mount TO252-2L package.

This new diode has a forward voltage of 1.3 V (typ.), achieving the lowest* value when compared with competitors’ fast recovery diodes supplied in TO252 packages.
In addition, the SPNS-1106S is both reflow and flow solderable (MSL 1). We made design improvements to ensure high reliability against thermal stress by flow soldering.

Suitable applications include PFC circuits and freewheeling diodes, such as for TVs and large home appliances.

Easy-to-Mount, Space-saving Alternator Diodes [SG-17VLZ / SG-17VLZ40 Series]

We have recently begun mass production of two alternator diode series — SG-17VLZ and SG-17VLZ40.
Supplied in a press-fit package with high heat dissipation, the products bring high reliability even under high temperature and humidity conditions. This press-fit package only needs to be inserted into heatsinks, reducing soldering processes and any mounting workloads.
In addition, our new alternator diodes are rated for high junction temperatures and are durable in harsh environments, e.g., an automotive engine compartment.

Each series comes in two types, diodes with the suffix “S” and the suffix “R”, having opposite polarities. By using these two types in pairs, you can effectively allocate diodes in a limited space while maintaining their enhanced heat dissipation.

The SG-17VLZ series conforms to the load dump surge standard JASO A-1.

Fully Digital-controlled Power Supply Control IC with Interleaved Totem-pole Bridgeless PFC Circuit [MD6753]

The MD6753 is a power supply IC that combines an interleaved totem-pole control topology and a bridgeless PFC circuit to allow complex control systems to be fully digital.
With the interleaving control in critical conduction mode, the IC can achieve high-efficient yet low-noise power systems.

To support higher power applications, the MD6753 has a PFC circuit that combines a totem-pole PFC where two power MOSFETs are connected in series and the interleaved operation that uses two of the same circuits in parallel.
The MD6753 employs an interleaved control that shifts the phase of two PFC circuits by 180 degrees to make them operate the same. In this control, the input current IIN is the sum of the currents flowing through the two inductors, L1 and L2, suppressing the input/output current ripple. This simplifies the input filter and reduces the heat generation of the output electrolytic capacitor, resulting in a smaller capacitor.
Synchronously rectifying the input voltage with Q5 and Q6 removes the diodes from the power line and improves circuit efficiency.


The MD6753 achieves these complex controls with a microcontroller chip and a high-voltage analog chip built into an SOP28 package.
These digitally controlled strategies allow application-specific optimal settings.

The SIM2-202B is a high voltage 3-phase motor driver in which transistors, pre-drive circuits, and bootstrap circuits (diodes and resistors) are highly integrated.
The new product comes in a compact DIP40 package and will best suit compressor-driven applications such as air conditioners.

Along with the lower-loss power elements, the SIM2 series is offered in the industry’s smallest package*, which is achieved by a direct bonding copper (DBC) structure with excellent heat dissipation.
In addition to the SIM2-151AB (15 A device), we have added the SIM2-202B to the product lineup as a 20 A device with the same package size.
The SIM2-202B is a compact but advanced motor driver designed to have high heat dissipation and precise functions, including the thermal shutdown (TSD) and the temperature sensing.

Power Supply Control IC with Critical Conduction Mode PFC and LLC Current-resonant Circuits [SSC4S911]

The SSC4S911 has two control circuits, a CRM PFC control and an LLC current-resonant control, in a small SSOP24 package.
The LLC stage has built-in high-side and low-side drive circuits to directly drive external power MOSFETs in a half-bridge stage. The startup and standby operations of the PFC and the LLC stages are highly coordinated and thus require no separate settings for each circuit.
An extensive range of its protections, including the capacitive mode detection function, makes it easy to design a high-quality power supply with excellent safety features. The SSC4S911 also supports DC input by the startup circuit and improves light-load efficiency.

The SX6812xM series are high voltage 3-phase motor drivers that support Hall element and Hall IC inputs.
In addition to the existing SX68128MB that supports 10-pole DC motors, we have added new drivers to this series: the SX68127MA (1.5 A) and the SX68128MA (2.0 A), which support 8-pole DC motors.

These drivers employ a sinusoidal motor driving control that is excellent in efficiency and quietness.
The SX6812xM series comes in a thin SOP36 package, where a controller, a gate driver, output transistors for each phase, and bootstrap diodes are highly integrated. This helps you create a motor drive circuit using only an SX6812xM series device and Hall elements.
Along with typical protections, this series has extensive functions: the motor lock protection, the reverse rotation detection, and the Hall signal abnormality detection. This enhanced functionality allows your application to have significantly fewer components, a smaller PCB area, and higher reliability.

The SX6812xM series will be best suited to inverter control systems using low- to medium-capacity motors compliant with universal input standards, such as fan motors for air conditioners, air purifiers, and electric fans.

The DGU5020GR is an IGBT that has a breakdown voltage of 500 V and built-in Zener diodes and gate resistors.
Our new IGBT allows you to create drive circuits for ignition coils with no external clamp circuit.

It also achieves excellent characteristics, including a low saturation voltage even with a self-clamped inductive switching energy (ESCIS) kept at a high level.
Moreover, the DGU5020GR can maintain the breakdown voltage extremely stable over the full range of operating temperatures (−40 °C to 175 °C).

The SIM2-151AB is a high voltage 3-phase motor driver in which transistors, pre-drive circuits, and bootstrap circuits (diodes and resistors) are highly integrated.
The new product comes in a compact DIP40 package and will best suit compressor-driven applications such as refrigerators and air conditioners.

Along with the lower-loss power elements, we successfully reduced the product’s mold volume by 40% or more compared to our conventional package through the direct bonding copper (DBC) structure—whose excellent heat dissipation is a promising feature. The SIM2-151AB also achieves the industry’s smallest size* among high-voltage motor driver ICs rated for 15 A.
The product is available in the package with not only a decreased volume size but also the heat dissipation equivalent of the conventional package.

Off-line Converters for Compact Power Supplies with High Efficiency in All Load Ranges [STR3W400MXD Series]

The STR3W400MXD series are off-line converter ICs with green mode that optimizes oscillation frequency according to load. The green mode decreases an oscillation frequency to a load-appropriate level and thus reduces switching losses in a power MOSFET.
